Mumbai meets Bangalore

Posted by Barleen at 11:02 AM 0 comments
Those sunday mornings at IIM Indore I used to love the crispy rice make called Dosa. But to get bored is a part of human nature. Its been 4 months I am in Bangalore and I have been having sambhar almost on daily basis. And I have been so fed up with this dosa that I had almost pledge not to have dosa ever until I found 99 variety dosa in the streets of Koramangla. It was fusion of Italian, mumbai and God knows what not. There were 99 dosas that were combination of all ingredients on Earth. There was butter, baby corn, mysore masala, pav bhaji, peas, cheese, schezwan sauce etc. It is a replica of prantha waali gali in Chandni chowk. The entire scene was really pleasant and calm.
For the first time I felt Bangalore can also be a fun place to live when I saw Bombay meeting Bangalore giving us a unique dosa.

Posted by Barleen at 9:01 PM 0 comments
Thailand trip was a journey close to nature and the most ecstatic part of the entire journey was I was alone, I could go anywhere. Bangkok and Pattaya visit was planned on feb16 2013, I was just sitting in my room, with a family friend, when suddenly she asked me for this trip and I was more than happy to have said yes to her.
First foreign trip is always a delight to any being in India and so was to me... and that too to a place which is supposed to be the ultimate destination for bachelors and spinsters... I was eagerly looking forward to it...
May 14 I finally packed my bags to rush to the airport and have the funfilled 4 hour journey to the land of white elephants.... Pattaya is a very calm serene place and the beach view, my first parasailing experience, the underwater experience, on the same day i had been under the water, in the air and on the land, memories of Coral island shall always be in my mind. WALKIN street was fun. and finally every woman choice the trip to bangkok, a shopping fiesta, its a huge market and variety of dresses...  the trip to safari world, that was the experience. would never ever forget this trip...

Writes and challenges for women in the society!!!!

Posted by Barleen at 10:44 AM 0 comments

Women's rights are entitlements and freedoms claimed for women and girls of all ages in many societies.

In some places these rights are institutionalized or supported by law, local custom, and behaviour, whereas in others they may be ignored or suppressed. They differ from broader notions of human rights through claims of an inherent historical and traditional bias against the exercise of rights by women and girls in favour of men and boys.

Issues commonly associated with notions of women's rights include, though are not limited to, the right: to bodily integrity and autonomy; to vote (suffrage); to hold public office; to work; to fair wages or equal pay; to own property; to education; to serve in the military or be conscripted; to enter into legal contracts; and to have marital, parental and religious rights.

During the 19th century women in the United States and Britain began to challenge laws that denied them the right to their property once they married. Under the common law doctrine of coverture husbands gained control of their wives' real estate and wages.

In the subsequent decades women's rights again became an important issue in the English speaking world. By the 1960s the movement was called "feminism" or "women's liberation." Reformers wanted the same pay as men, equal rights in law, and the freedom to plan their families or not have children at all. Their efforts were met with mixed results.

The various achievements in the century today has given us the attainment of following rights.
Causes and successes of the feminist movement in the western world include:
Women's Sufferage
Reproductive rights, which includes birth control and abortion rights
Equal Pay for Equal Work Laws
Educational Rights
Diminishment of mandatory gender roles
Sexual assault and harassment laws

Many feminists, including Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B Anthony, also latched on to the Black Sufferage movement in the past, seeing it as similar in their ideals. Today, some feminists, particularly liberal feminists, also fight for the LGBT cause of equal rights and marriage. But it's not just about obtaining these rights, my friends. It's about keeping them, too.

Right now, in our so-called "enlightened" world of equality, women are still the most common victim of honor killing followed by homosexual men. Most often, honor killings occur in predominately Muslim cultures, though there is no support for this in Islam at all. But in India, more than five thousand brides are killed annually because their dowries are considered insufficient. In Iraq, "honor killings are conducted by armed insurgent groups on politically active women and those who did not follow a strict dress code, and women who are perceived as human rights defenders." (from the link above).

If that doesn't make you, as a woman (or friend of women) angry, then let me tell you this. 99% of women in Guinea of reproductive age (15-49) and 97% of Egyptian women in the same age bracket have gone through Female Genital Mutilation. In the entire world, between 100 and 140million women have been circumcized and every year, two million girls are at risk. The World Health Organization classifies FGM as "all procedures involving partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs whether for cultural, religious or other non-therapeutic reasons." In most instances, this includes partial or complete removal of the clitoris. Other than initial shock and pain, FGM can also cause bleeding, infection, infertility and death. It has also been linked to complications during childbirth, which can harm the mother and her child.

If that isn't personal enough, let me leave you with one last statistic, this time closer to home. In the United States, according to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, one in six women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime. 17.7 million American women have been victims of attempted or completed rape. And if that doesn't make you angry, only six percent of rapists will serve one day in jail.

According to a United Nations report, one in three women-- 33% of our sisters-- around the world "has been beaten, coerced into sex or abused in some way, most often by someone she knows." Ladies (and friends of ladies), if you thought that the feminist struggle was just about bra-burning and refusing to shave, if you thought that the feminist movement was more or less over and done with, if you thought that feminism was all about man hating and protesting maleness, what do you think now? When a depressingly large amount of our sistersstill suffer in the world? When Saudi Arabian women are denied the right to drive, or to leave their homes without a male escort? When a woman can be stoned to death simply for making eye contact with a man?

So I want to ask those of you who answered the question at the begining of this article as "no."

Do you still not consider yourself a feminist?

"It is very easy to hate a Nazi, a guardian in a Gulag. But the real danger is not them. It is the decent people who compromise with evil."-- Jacobo Timerman.

Marriage versus living together

Ever since Adam and Eve took the stage for life . Ever since the life was rendered by

God the life has been carried out even more with the tradition of marriages after which

comes the state of enjoying the family life .There are children who get you the essence

of life , there are expectations , there are daily trifles and many such similar things to

dawn upon. But living together has no trifles, no responsibilities. But with all such

relaxations there are still some things that make marriages an even more happier

experience to live with.

Factors that make marriages a happy experience

Affection:

Affection among the inmates. The people who together form what they call as the

family unit that is brought when all the family members live together sharing there

happiness, there sorrows . The love they offer to each other and moreover the feel that

unite them whatever may be the range of the problems they have.

Intimacy :

The family members are quite close to each other to share each others problems.

Factors that make living together a better experience

No responsibilities:

There are less of responsibilities with people in a live in relation as the family

members do not have much of work to do what they are expected that they have to

do they are stuck with work they should have done.

No expectations:

As there are no expectations there are less family trifles and the members are

not left quarelling with each other. They are not drowned by the wave of expecting.

No hidden facts:
There are no hidden facts in a live in relation. If the either of the spouse has alcoholism

habit. They wouldn’t stop disclosing as this would not affect there daily lives.

Satisfaction of sexual needs :

Whether it be a men or a women the most satisfaction that is derived by the two is to

satisfy there sexual needs to cure their sexual lust. The two can sleep together without

having bound by the ordeals of daily life.

Factors that lack in marriages

In marriages that are generally arranged by the family are those that lack the shadow of

lack of communication among the family members that is often reciprocated in the form

of fights and anguishness.

Conclusion

Studies reveal that over the past years what has decreased is marriages of the adults by

ten percent and 533 percent increase has been seen in United States of America.

Such other studies conducted in different regions of New York and Sweden reveal that

married stabilities have shattered over the past years.

There has been an increase in the rates of marriage break ups and divorced cases over the past Years .Add to it the works done jointly at Yale and Columbia Universities in

the United States found that "the dissolution rate for women who cohabit premaritally

with their future spouse are , on average, nearly 80 percent higher than the rates of

those who do not."

Generation gap

Posted by Barleen at 10:45 AM 0 comments

And I stand here to discuss this ever debatable talk….

One of the important problems of all times is the generation gap. Adult’s mentality is different from teenager’s. They are the children of two epochs with different views on various subjects. Because of this parents and children sometimes argue with each other.
Some people believe that teenagers today are generally rude, lazy and ill-behaved. Other people, however, think that teenagers are not so bad.

The disparity in views, outlooks, lifestyle, values and perception of parents or the older generation on the other, results in the generation gap. The youngster lot wants to stay out for late night parties and believe in the philosophy of leading a merry life. They want to keep in tune with the overhanging world of fashion and believe in dressing up in the latest outfits. Some of these trendy cloths outrage the modesty of parents. The taste in music as well as lifestyle also differs vastly from the older to younger generation. The old age tradition values of respect for elders and love and attention for youngsters are being eroded and slogans like free expressions are being put forth by the younger generation. From a myth, generation gap is becoming reality.

Some people don’t want to understand modern views, ideals and system of values. They say that teenagers are cruel, brutal, heartless and rude. Yes, today new generation “plays” with smoking, drugs and alcohol, but this doesn’t mean that all teens are really bad!
On the other hand, today many elderly people look at the world with new

eyes. Moreover, they try to understand teenagers’ problems and solve them.
In most cases “new generation” doesn’t understand their parents and becomes depressed because of this. To protest against it, teens can shock people around them. That’s why it is considered that teens today are lazy and ill-behaved. Elderly people usually compare their childhood and youth with present, they are always talking about “the good old days”.
People are said to become wiser with age. Sometimes it is true and sometimes it is not. I think that you can meet a wise man among the old as often as among the young. It is wrong that when wisdom always comes in old age. Sometimes when we talk to adults, they listen only to their own point of view. That’s why some teens don’t like to talk to adults....

as I said in beginning it is a talk of past that continues till now..what changes each day is its face ….from grudges to understanding at present….and hope the relations improve for better but comparisons would only worsen it…

Insecurities

Day and night there is one thing that goes into mind wide and astray…..

Will I be able to reach that garden of bliss will I be able to do something big in my life….,what about my parents wish will they happy with what I do…Supposively I am not successful someday then..Will I be happy in my, married life...Wont there be trifles with him….

Half of our life is consumed by these INSECURITIES isn’t it……and by now there is something making me feels insecure even more. The one who is reading my article might be thinking how irregular is she at her English….she has made a bizarre of it……well quite true….insecurities are what we are surrounded by always…they often retard our performance isn’t it??????

Because what follows insecurities is a way long of vices such as the jealousy, envy, criticism , fear, cowardice and what not…………

Human beings today are entrapped in their own world of insecurities…………………

Take this one…….party tonight!!!….sizzling actress insecured whether she will be able to maintain her charm at the party or not….…will all be enthralled or lured by her acts………another corporate boy feels will he make a mark in the industry…….

My entire aim to write this was to just relax myself spitting my heart…if anyone can suggest me what I can do tell me….

The iPhone 5 built for 4G is COMING!!!

Lots of speculation is going around on the new iPhone 5... in HD!!

Verizon Wireless is currently testing a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 and 5 and Verizon confirms they are making network changes to bring the iphone to their network. The new iPhone 5 is going to be loaded with awesome new features like video chat on 3g and 4g (no longer restricted to WiFi only), face recognition and extreme downloading. (List of possible features below). Just when you think there is nothing else to come up with, more and more and more technology comes out. And it is on the rise, and not just at Apple, Inc!

This iPhone 5 will have dual core processors and higher and powerful graphic chips that can deliver higher video resolutions and better "still" images when taking pictures, AND it will make multi-tasking a breeze.

There are a few networks working on building a 4G network. T-mobile would be a likely carrier since they are GSM already. Sprint has a 4G network already... AT&T and Verizon Wireless are in the beginning stages. There are talks of Verizon Wireless getting iPhone sometime in 2010 but it looks like they will get it for sure in 2011 when the new iPhone 5 comes out.

Whether or not it will be 4G will be up to them!... can they build in time? They will definitely have the 3G version of iPhone, but with the new iPhone 5 (4g speeds) coming out, will they compete?! Regardless, there is much anticipation on how many people will leave AT&T for Verizon Wireless because of AT&T's lagging on app restrictions like Slingplayer and Google Voice and Skype (on 4g network, not Wi-Fi).

AT&T's restrictions have caused the percentage of people that are JailBreaking their iPhones to rise since Jail Breaking usually comes with Cydia which is the app store for jail broken phones. Most of the applications, ringtones, and even iphone themes!...are free with Cydia. Winterboard is part of the download, and it very easily add's the changes to your phone so you dont have to figure how to do it on your own...it is VERY automated.

The Palm Pre on Sprint and HTC EVO (Sprint now offering a 4G network) has made an attempt at being competitive with iPhone and Blackberry...and it seems they are making head way, although with the iPhone 4 released and the iPhone 5 on the way, they are sure to lose. Oh ya, the Blackberry Torch? = Nice try... but that browser is NOT full HTML.

iPhone 5 looks promising in terms of being sleek, packed with new hardware and finally less restrictions. Very exciting.
